Broadmead Saturday Night
Car Meetup
If you're an automotive collector or vintage enthusiast on Vancouver Island, there's one weekend ritual that stands completely supreme. Every nice Saturday evening, the expansive paved parking lot at the Canadian Tire at the Broadmead Village Shopping Centre, 801 Royal Oak Drive, Saanich shifts gears to become the ultimate organic, grassroots car show in Victoria.
Starting around 6:00 PM, local car builders, purists, and casual spectators drive in to park, chat, swap restoration stories, and grab coffees. Ranging from perfectly polished 1950s cherry cruisers and roaring muscle cars to modern import tuners and vintage farm trucks, this is a highly organic community meet drawing about 100 vehicles on warm summer nights. The 2026 season traditionally ran from May through late September, weather permitting, so the lot has now quietened for winter. It remains Greater Victoria's most beloved car ritual: watch for warm-weather pop-up editions, and the Saturday-night gatherings return every spring. Free, family friendly, and the lot fills up early on nice evenings.

The full 2026 season traditionally ran from May through late September, and warm-weather pop-up editions continue to appear on pleasant October Saturdays (October 17, 24, and 31 included). It remains the community's automotive staple: free, family friendly, and the lot fills up early on nice evenings.

The 40th annual Victoria Fall Home Show brings renovation, design, and home-improvement experts to the Pearkes fieldhouse, from kitchens and baths to solar, HVAC, and landscaping. The Vancouver Island Region Porsche Club of America hosts its South Island Cars & Coffee every Sunday morning, gathering in the Uptown area (typically Eagle Creek Village on Helmcken Road or the Uptown Mall lot). A free, welcoming gathering of enthusiast cars from every marque, with coffee nearby and plenty of parking-lot conversation. Runs year-round, rain or shine.

The 29th annual Antimatter [media art] Festival opens Thursday, October 15 at 6:00 PM and runs through October 25, with video art, digital media installations, and experimental film screening across downtown venues. One of the fall season's most distinctive cultural highlights.

Municipal Election Day
Voting places across Victoria, Saanich, Esquimalt, and Langford
BC's general local elections go to the polls on Saturday, October 17, with mayoral, council, and school board races in Victoria, Saanich, Esquimalt, Langford, and every other Greater Victoria municipality. Advance voting runs October 14–16, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM at Crystal Gardens. Check your local municipality's site for your polling place and what is on your ballot.

Runs weekends from October 3 through November 1, plus Thanksgiving Monday and Friday, October 23. After dark, the Festival of Fear adds the Asylum and The Worx for braver visitors.
